Flow Problems

flow problems

The most common problem with bulk materials storage and feeding is "hang-ups" that interrupt the flow of material.

"Hang-ups" are in most cases a result of inappropriate bin geometry, or poor discharge feeder design.

The bin geometry and critical dimensions must be selected to suit the stored material, to avoid formation of a stable arch over the outlet, or a "rat-hole" through the bin.

rat hole"Rat-holing" occurs when the outlet dimension is below the critical "piping" dimension.

As the "Moving Hole" feeder is "effective" over the entire length irrespective of its length, the "piping" dimension for a long feeder is exceeded by a wide margin, and hence, avoiding the formation of a stable "rat-hole".
