Biomass Materials
Such materials are characterized by low bulk density and high compressibility and strength. Common practice for the handling of such materials is to use negatively tapered bins with large outlets, and feeders that essentially rely on "brute force" to discharge material out of such bins. Extensive research by Kamengo, identified common discharge feeder problems that result in "hang-ups". A positive slope mass flow design in combination with the "Moving Hole" feeder, avoids compaction and stagnation of the stored material and provides reliable flow.
