The "Moving Hole" feeder can be designed to handle wet or dry ash. Some plants mix wet bottom ash with fly ash, while in rare instances, fly ash is wetted prior to storage to avoid possibility of fires. Material flow characteristics and possible reactivity of the wet ash must be considered in selecting bin parameters and materials of construction.

Ash from an efficient combustion system consists of a fine, cohesive powder that is prone to "hang-ups" with an incorrectly designed system. Mass flow bin design is used for first-in-first-out flow to avoid stagnation of material in any part of the bin.

Moving Hole feeder provides "effective" and reliable discharge.

Ash can be loaded out in a dust free manner to open containers or trucks, or through the hatch of a closed rail car or container.

As there are no wear parts associated with the feeder, it provides a relatively low maintenance system for handling the abrasive product.

Typically, the feeder will operate for several years before any maintenance is needed.

Conditioning system is built in as part of the feeder.

A special loading platform forms an air-tight seal against the flange of the opening of the rail car or an open truck or container.

Loading to Open Trucks/Containers

Loading of open dump trucks (or containers) takes place evenly as the feeder distributes material evenly along the length and width of the truck or container.

System is driver operated. Loading time is less than 10 minutes.

A special loading platform with a collapsible rubber chute is lowered to fully extended position to form an air-tight seal against the top of truck or container.

Loading of Closed Railcar

Loading of closed rail cars can be done through a hatch at the top. A screw conveyor collects the ash discharged by the feeder, to the centre of the screw.
