Fibre Load Out Systems
For wood chips which tend to volume out before they weigh out, significant transportation economies can be gained by increased "compaction" compared to other means of loading (front end loader or clam shell type bin). Gain in compaction is a result of "layering" of chips discharged by the feeder. Chips tend to lay flat instead of being randomly oriented as a result of being discharged as a uniform stream from the multiple "moving holes" of the feeder. The increase in compaction is as high as 25%. Up to 10% compaction of shavings and sawdust has also been observed. Mass Flow Bin Design Negatively tapered bins have traditionally been used for chips and hog fuel to avoid bridging problems. In combination with the "Moving Hole" feeder, mass flow bin concept has successfully been applied for such materials. Mass flow allows economical storage of much larger volume of material compared to negatively tapered bins.
